FLORISSANT — A 19-year-old burglary suspect who was shot by a Florissant officer has died.

Three officers responded to a home burglary in progress Sunday night. Florissant Sgt. Kevin Boschert says one suspect was confronted at the front of the home, refused to surrender, then showed a weapon. He was shot twice by one of the officers and died at a hospital during surgery.

Boschert says the officer who shot the suspect had 22 years of experience and has been placed on routine administrative leave during the investigation.

Police continue to look for at least one more suspect who fled. The names of those involved have not been released.
