Governor Nixon appoints pair to Board of Mediation

JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon has filled two seats on the state Board of Mediation.

Nixon announced the appointments of Peggy Cochran and Emily Martin on Monday. The Board of Mediation is responsible for determining the appropriate negotiating units for state employees.

Cochran is from Rocky Mount. She served from 1991 to 2006 as executive director of the Missouri National Education Association.

Martin lives in St. Louis. She is president of Aschinger Electric Co., an electrical contracting firm.

The mediation board has two members from organized labor, two members who are employers with union employees and a chairman with no connections to unions.
