SEDALIA — A Sedalia woman has been charged with murder after a man overdosed on pills that prosecutors allege she gave him.

Prosectors said 53-year-old Deborah J. Hayes was arrested Tuesday on a Pettis County warrant on charges of felony delivery of a controlled substance and second-degree murder. She was jailed in Pettis County on $200,000 bond.

Hayes is accused of giving OxyContin pills to Randy Arndt, 36, who died from a drug overdose April 29 at his Sedalia home.

Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Mittelhauser said any person who commits a felony that causes a death is guilty of second-degree murder, even if there was no intention of causing the person to die.
