Columbia man stabbed by girlfriend

COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was stabbed by his girlfriend Saturday morning in his home, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Dorthea Lavene Paige McDonald, 19, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action, the release states.

After arriving at the scene, deputies found the victim at a neighbor's apartment. He initially refused treatment for his injuries, but later sought medical attention on his own, the release states.

McDonald was being held on a $4,500 bond for the domestic assault charge at the Boone County Jail as of 5:30 p.m. Saturday. No bond amount had been set for the armed criminal action charge, the release states.
