MAPLEWOOD — Maplewood City Hall was evacuated after an 89-year-old woman brought police her late husband's hand grenade because she didn't know what should be done with it.

It happened Monday in the St. Louis suburb. Police Sgt. David Sinnard said the St. Louis County bomb squad was called, and City Hall temporarily cleared out, until they knew the weapon would not explode.

Sinnard said it's believed the grenade was from World War II. The bomb squad disposed of the grenade.
