1 person dies in I-70 rollover accident

Traffic was slow on Interstate 70 eastbound following a fatal crash on Wednesday morning.

COLUMBIA — One person is dead and several other people were transported to a hospital after a large van overturned on Interstate 70 Wednesday morning, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

The rollover happened around 7 a.m. near mile marker 124, which is near the Stadium Boulevard exit.

Westbound lanes are open. Eastbound lanes are open but the traffic is backed up, the release said. Eastbound vehicles are being diverted to the Stadium exit ramp and back onto the highway.
