Redeemer Presbyterian Church installs new pastor

Saturday, August 22, 2009 | 5:39 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The congregation of Redeemer Presbyterian Church will welcome its new pastor, Joseph E. Rolison, with an installation service on Sunday.

The service will be held at 6 p.m. at the church, 101 N. Grace Lane.

Rolison previously served as pastor at the Leakesville Presbyterian Church in Leakesville, Miss., for more than seven years. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and of Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, N.C.

Rolison said he aims to "enhance and flesh-out" pre-existing ministries and reach out to the entire community of Columbia. He also said he hopes to further the church's Web site to keep people informed about upcoming sermons and information about the community.

"We are in a discovery stage as a ministry and a church," Rolison said.

The service and reception afterward are open to the community.
