JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri revenues were down 5.6 percent through the first two months of the fiscal year that began July 1.

The Office of Administration reported Thursday that sales tax collections through August were down 4.9 percent from the same period last year. Individual income tax collections declined 5.2 percent.

Tax refunds rose 9.4 percent through August, contributing to the overall decline in state revenues.

There were a few exceptions to the downward trend. Corporate tax collections rose nearly 32 percent through August compared with the same two months last year. Beer tax revenues were up slightly.
