CAPE GIRARDEAU — Cape Girardeau is among the nation's best places to retire, according to Money magazine.

The Southeast Missourian reported Friday that the magazine ranked Cape Girardeau as the 24th-best community in which to retire, citing its downtown district, cultural opportunities, health care options and activities available through Southeast Missouri State University.

The magazine looked at more than 1,800 U.S. communities before coming up with its top 25 places to retire. Selection factors included tax rates, recreational opportunities, weather, medical care and the arts.
