Wednesday, September 23, 2009 | 10:16 a.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — Gov. Jay Nixon and University of Missouri system president Gary Forsee will coach the black and gold squads in the Tigers' annual preseason men's basketball scrimmage.

The Oct. 23 event kicks off homecoming weekend activities at Missouri. The following day, the football team will take on the University of Texas at Memorial Stadium.

The basketball scrimmage comes one week after the start of practice. The Tigers posted a school-record 31 wins last season and advanced to an NCAA regional final.

Basketball team members will sign autographs and pose for pictures starting one hour before the 8 p.m. Black and Gold Game at Mizzou Arena.
