JEFFERSON CITY — A robber who was apparently shot accidentally by an accomplice during a home invasion near Jefferson City has died, and authorities say three suspects are in custody.

The Cole County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that 19-year-old Lamar Gardner, of Kansas City, died Monday night at a Columbia hospital from wounds suffered during the robbery.

The sheriff's office said two of the suspects in custody are from the Jefferson City area and the third is from Kansas City. They were not identified because charges have not been filed.

The sheriff's department says about $1,000 was stolen during the early Monday robbery. Additional suspects are being sought in the Jefferson City and Kansas City areas.
