JEFFERSON CITY — Three people were charged Tuesday in a Jefferson City-area robbery that left one of their alleged accomplices dead from an apparently accidental gunshot.

Lamar Gardner, 19, of Kansas City, died Monday night from wounds suffered during a robbery earlier that day, the Cole County sheriff's office said.

On Tuesday, the Cole County prosecutor's office charged Daniel Wade Hynson, of Jefferson City, with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Court documents allege Hynson planned and participated in the robbery but was not the gunman.

His girlfriend, Lauren Rae Douglas, of Jefferson City, was charged with hindering prosecution for allegedly driving him around town to find a place to hide from police.

A charge of conspiracy to commit robbery was filed against Natasha Wray, of Independence, whom court records identified as the girlfriend of Gardner. According to a probable cause statement by a sheriff's deputy, Wray drove several people from the Kansas City area to Jefferson City to help Hynson in a robbery that they thought would garner $40,000. Wray also allegedly transported one of the surviving co-conspirators back to Kansas City after the robbery, officials said.

Court records identified nine people involved in the robbery plot, some of whom have not been charged. The Cole County sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing.

Hynson, Douglas and Wray were being held Tuesday at the Cole County jail.

Hynson, Douglas and Wray were not available for comment.

Court records show Hynson pleaded guilty on Sept. 22 to misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a revoked driver's license. He was fined $500 for the drunken-driving charge and assessed $622 for court costs. A 40-day jail sentence for the other charge was suspended while he instead was on probation.
