Southwest Airlines adds nine new flights from St. Louis

DALLAS— Southwest Airlines Co. will add nine new daily flights from St. Louis following American Airlines' announcement that it is further cutting its service in the city.

Southwest said Wednesday its new flights are expected to begin by May 2010 and will be open for sale in December.

The new flights include two daily nonstop round trips between St. Louis and Nashville, Tenn., one daily nonstop round trip between St. Louis and Raleigh/Durham, N.C., and one daily nonstop round trip between St. Louis and New Orleans.

The airline currently operates 72 daily nonstop flights from St. Louis.
