Columbia College's basketball teams earn preseason ranks

COLUMBIA — Both Columbia College's women's and men's basketball teams earned rankings in the NAIA Division I Preseason Polls. The women's team was named No. 14, while the men's team is ranked No. 19.

The women's team finished last season at No. 19 after advancing to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament. The team will return six players for coach Mike Davis who enters his ninth season in the program. The Cougars start their season against Union at 7 p.m. next Monday in Jackson, Tenn.

The men's team finished its season ranked No. 19 and made it to the NAIA National Championship. Coach Bob Burchard will return for his 22nd season with a team that returns four players. The men's squad will open its season against Concordia Seminary at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at Southwell Complex.
