Arraignment Thursday for KC man accused of photographing sedated girls

Thursday, October 29, 2009 | 9:34 a.m. CDT

KANSAS CITY — A 60-year-old Kansas City man accused of sedating and taking seminude photos of young girls faces his first appearance in federal court.

Arraignment was scheduled Thursday for James Phillips Edwards. He's charged with advertising child pornography over the Internet, attempted distribution of child porn over the Internet and possession of child porn.

Federal prosecutors allege that Edwards laced ice cream and soda with a sedative to make underage girls lose consciousness, then took pictures of them.

Investigators say Phillips told them in a videotaped interview that he doesn't believe he did anything wrong.
