Columbia College volleyball team clinches another AMC championship

The Columbia College women's volleyball team defeated William Woods 25-20, 25-21 and 28-26 on Thursday in Fulton to give the Cougars the American Midwest Conference regular season title at 14-0. It is the 16th time Columbia College has claimed the crown.

Cate Eckhardt led the way for the Cougars with 15 kills and 17 digs. Freshman setter Paula Ferreira recorded 38 assists and converted six of her nine attack attempts into points for Columbia College, which is No. 7 in the latest NAIA poll at 28-2 overall. Monica Santos also tallied 11 kills and Maria Omondi had 10 kills and three blocks. Tally Mattos led the Cougars in digs with 16.

The Cougars play this weekend at the Taylor University Invitational in Upland, Ind. The Cougars take on Indiana Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Friday then play No. 17 ranked Taylor at 7 p.m. Friday.
