Person dies in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70

COLUMBIA — A person died Tuesday afternoon when a  small Toyota SUV ran off a westbound lane on Interstate 70 and began to smoke.       

When authorities arrived at the scene on I-70 westbound, the SUV was completely engulfed in flames, according to the Columbia Fire Department.

The person could not be identified, according to the Columbia Fire Department. The department said it will release more information on Tuesday evening.
