COLUMBIA — Police arrested four men on drug charges Wednesday evening after entering a north Columbia home to look for a suspect in a fraud case.

Columbia police were dispatched to 213 Sexton Road at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday after receiving information that the suspect in a fraud case was at the residence, Detective Jeff Westbrook said.

Westbrook said one of the suspects let police into the house, where they smelled marijuana and saw a marijuana pipe. Police first arrested Gabriel Watkins on suspicion of fraud. Police said they found marijuana, marijuana pipes, drug paraphernalia, scales and pills in the house and marijuana on Watkins and three others.

Police arrested and transported all four to Boone County Jail.

Watkins was arrested on suspicion of felony fraudulent use of a credit device and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and of drug paraphernalia.

Watkins and McFeely paid their bonds and were released Thursday. Slavit and Sampson were released on a summons to appear in court.

In December 2008, Watkins pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and was fined $200, according to Missouri Case.net.

In August 2007, Sampson pleaded guilty to charges of possession of marijuana under 35 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Case.net. He was fined $200. I think CPD needs to set up some surveillance cameras downtown in front of Aardvark, Cool Stuff, the Peace Nook and some select bars and clubs with that new smell-a-vision feature I've been reading about in Science Illustrated....
(They can send the installation bill to David Rosman of the Missourian.)
