CLAYTON — A 28-year-old St. Louis County man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to beating, choking and strangling his girlfriend.

Jessie Meanus of Dellwood was sentenced Tuesday by Judge John Kitz. KSDK reports he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, assault and armed criminal action.

Police said Meanus killed 37-year-old Latonya Fiertag after they had an argument in April 2008.

They said he put her body in a trash container and dumped it into a creek bed. The body was found after a search of several days.
