JEFFERSON CITY — A Jefferson City man has pleaded not guilty in the shooting deaths of a couple in an apartment near his home.

The Jefferson City News-Tribune reports that 54-year-old David Hosier entered the pleas Tuesday in Cole County Circuit Court on two counts of first-degree murder. He is charged in the September deaths of 45-year-old Angela Gilpin and 61-year-old Rodney Gilpin.

The Gilpins' bodies were found in Angela Gilpin's Jefferson City apartment, a block from Hosier's home. Court documents say Angela Gilpin had been in a romantic relationship with Hosier while separated from her husband, but the Gilpins were trying to reconcile.

Before their separation, the Gilpins lived in Hartsburg.

Hosier was arrested by Oklahoma authorities seven hours after the slayings.
