Jefferson Junior High students released for lunch after gun reported

COLUMBIA — Columbia police are searching for a BB gun at Jefferson Junior High School after a student report this morning. The student saw a BB gun after school yesterday and told administration today, Michelle Baumstark, communications coordinator for the Columbia Public School District, said.

Students have been released for lunch shifts but are being kept out of hallways while police continue to investigate, Baumstark said. Earlier, students were being kept in classrooms.
