Columbia man arrested on suspicion of pocketknife assault

COLUMBIA — A 48-year-old Columbia man was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of threatening a victim with a pocket knife during a disturbance south of Harrisburg.

Paul D. Powell was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. His bond on the first two counts was set at $9,000. Bond on the armed criminal action count had not been set Thursday morning.

Boone County sheriff's deputies responded to the assault complaint at 1 a.m. Thursday at a residence in the 4900 block of Wolfe Road, south of Harrisburg. A 42-year-old man reported being assaulted by Powell. The victim was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
