Stephens College basketball wins first conference game

The Stephens College basketball team earned its first conference victory Thursday with a 79-71 win over Harris-Stowe at Silverthorne Arena. The Stars improved their record to 8-8 on the season.

Junior forward Cara Leis led the Stars with 16 points and eight rebounds. Freshman guard Jessica McConnell also scored 16 points, and junior guard Jaime Flesner finished with 14 points.

Stephens College next plays William Woods at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fulton. The Stars' next home game is at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Hannibal-LaGrange.
