ST. LOUIS — The Humane Society of Missouri is holding a telethon for the first time to raise funds to care for animals and investigate abuse cases.

The "Second Chances" telethon will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday on KDNL-TV in St. Louis. Organizers said they expect to make it an annual event.

The telethon will feature stories of stray and rescued animals that found homes through the Humane Society of Missouri.
