Chinese New Year celebration

  • When: 4 p.m. Friday
  • Where: Chinese Christian Church, 3316 S. Rock Quarry Road
  • What to expect:
    • 4 to 6 p.m., making dumplings
    • 6 to 7 p.m., dinner
    • 7 to 9 p.m., meetings
    • There also will be songs, dramas and comedic performances
  • Additional information: The event is free and open to the public

China Night 2010: A Showcase of Classical & Contemporary Chinese Culture

  • When: 7 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: Jesse Auditorium
  • What to expect: A showcase of Chinese culture and folk art through traditional dance, folk dance, instrumental performances such as guzheng, modern Chinese crosstalk (comedy), diabolo shows, magic tricks, vocal performances and martial art demonstrations
  • Organized by: Friendship Association of Chinese Students & Scholars
  • Additional information: Seats are limited on a first-come, first-served basis. The show will also be streamed live online at
