Winter weather advisory posted for 2-5 inches of snow

Snowfall of 2 to 5 inches was forecast for the Columbia area beginning Saturday evening.

The National Weather Service on Friday afternoon issued a winter weather advisory for Boone and adjacent counties from 6 p.m. Saturday to midnight Sunday.

A storm is expected to move southeast across the Midwest and bring periods of light to moderate snow into Sunday night, and the Weather Service warned that travel could become hazardous.
