COLUMBIA — Applications for the newly created Stormwater Advisory Board should be turned into the city clerk's office by noon on March 5.

The board was created in an ordinance passed by City Council on Monday.

The main purposes of the commission are:

  • advise city staff in all matters pertaining to stormwater utility
  • listen to citizens' opinions concerning stormwater issues and use them to make recommendations to city staff

The commission will consist of five members. One will be appointed by the MU chancellor, and the other four will be applicants picked by City Council.

Members must be registered voters who have lived in Columbia for at least one year. The board will meet at least quarterly.

Applications are available at the clerk's office, 701 E. Broadway, or on the city's Web site.
