Columbia lawyer appointed to Missouri Higher Education Board

JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon appointed a Columbia attorney to Missouri's Coordinating Board for Higher Education.
If confirmed by the Senate, Craig Van Matre would serve through June 2015. The nine-member board oversees the state's Department of Higher Education.
Van Matre's appointment to a Democratic slot on the board was announced Thursday. He has a private legal practice and serves on the Stephens College Board of Trustees in Columbia.
