Chile earthquake: How to help

COLUMBIA — Several organizations have mobilized to send disaster relief teams and supplies to Chile after Saturday's 8.8-magnitude earthquake. If you want to donate, here are some organizations to consider:

The Mobile Giving Foundation has set up numbers to donate via text message. Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile have waived text messaging fees for donations. To donate:

  • Text “CHILE” to 25383 to donate on behalf of Habitat for Humanity
  • Text “CHILE” to 20222 to donate on behalf of World Vision
  • Text “CHILE” to 52000 on behalf of the Salvation Army
  • Text “YOUTH” to 20222 to donate on behalf of UNICEF
