SPRINGFIELD — An Amish Mennonite farmer with 10 children is dead after a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer collided in Springfield.

The Springfield News-Leader reported that the victim has been identified as 42-year-old Edward Kropf.

Springfield police said his brother, Edwin, was driving the pickup truck and was injured in Friday's crash.

Witnesses told police the pickup ran a red light. A tractor-trailer then smashed into the side of the truck, pushing it into another vehicle hauling a trailer load of windows.

Kenneth Kropf, Edward and Edwin's nephew, said his Amish Mennonite uncles raised cattle and grew soybeans in the Everton area. Old Order Amish use horse-driven transportation while some Amish Mennonite groups permit members to drive engine-powered vehicles.
