COLUMBIA — Missouri senior Sarah Shire has been named the Big 12 Conference Gymnast of the Week for the fifth time this season, giving her the conference record for the most Gymnast of the Week honors at 12.

Shire helped the Tigers to a season-high 196.875 in a victory last Friday against visiting Illinois State. She won her sixth all-around title of the season at the meet with a school-record 39.725. Her 17th career all-around crown was marked by individual wins on vault (9.900), bars (9.900) and beam (9.950) and a tie for the floor (9.975) title. Shire’s scores on beam and floor marked new career-highs on both events, while her floor score tied the Missouri program record.

The Tigers compete next at 2 p.m. Saturday at a tri-meet at Southeast Missouri State that includes Alaska-Anchorage.
