COLUMBIA — A cooking fire in a south Columbia apartment left no one injured, but its occupants will have to stay somewhere else.

A 911 call reported the fire at 8:11 p.m. Friday. Firefighters arrived at the apartment building at 8:15 p.m. and had the fire under control within 10 minutes, said James Weaver, Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief.

The fire spread into the attic of the apartment building on Apple Tree Court, requiring firefighters to pull out some of the ceiling.

The apartment where the cooking fire took place was the only one affected.
