Rock Bridge dance team wins national pom competition

COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge High School dance team won a national championship Sunday.

The team finished first in the large varsity pom division with a score of 8.974, one-third of a point more than the second-place team from Fort Wayne, Ind. The championships, sponsored by the National Dance Alliance, were held in the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios in Orlando.

Rock Bridge also won a specialty award for superior showmanship.
