Dialogue Club lecture to focus on bringing movements together

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 | 10:05 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — The MU Dialogue Club plans to hold a lecture about “connecting the threads of dialogue.”

The lecture is at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Stotler Lounge in Memorial Union at MU. It is part of a series the club holds each year, said Mehmet Kahveci, the club president and founder.

It will focus on connecting separate dialogues about related issues.

Kahveci said the event is not a reaction to the Feb. 26 cotton ball incident at the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center on Feb. 26.

“We already had this in mind and planned a month ago or more,” Kahveci said. “Of course, we feel very sorry for the incident we had on campus.”

The club was formed about two years ago, Kahveci said, and holds two or three lectures per year.
