Jerry Wade, 69, has served as Columbia's Fourth Ward City Councilman since 2007. Prior to that he served 15 years* on Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission — nine* of those as chairman. Wade is retired from a long career with MU Extension, where he worked as a community development specialist. He has a bachelor's degree in sociology, a master's degree in community development and a doctorate in rural sociology, both from MU. Wade is married to Edge Wade and they have one daughter. Wade wants to bring new jobs to Columbia, promote job training in the community and improve public safety.

RELEVANT BACKGROUND: Fourth Ward representative on the Columbia City Council since 2007; served 12 years on the Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission, from 1995 to 2007; chaired the commission from 2001 until 2007.
