STARK CITY — Authorities in southwest Missouri say a veteran, whose body was recovered a mile from his home last week, died of exposure.

Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland said Friday there were no signs of foul play based on preliminary autopsy results in the death of 62-year-old Ernest Jensen of Stark City.

Authorities found Jensen's body Wednesday night about a mile from his home. The sheriff said it unclear how long Jensen had been at the location where he was found.

He said Jensen, a Vietnam War veteran, reportedly suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and had disappeared from his home before.
