COLUMBIA — The body of a Columbia man found unresponsive at Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches has been identified.

Jason Funk was discovered around 3 a.m. Thursday inside the Jimmy John's located at 1019 E. Broadway, according to a previous article by the Missourian. He was taken to the Boone Hospital Center and pronounced dead.

Needle marks were found on his left arm, and needles were also found near the body.

"At this point we expect it to be a drug-related death," said Columbia Police Officer Jessie Haden.

The police department is waiting on a toxicology report to identify the possible drugs involved. The report will likely take one to two weeks.

Funk was not a student at MU and did not work at the restaurant.
