LETTER: Attacking Skala's integrity smells of desperation

Monday, March 29, 2010 | 8:00 p.m. CDT; updated 3:10 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Columbia is fortunate that dedicated candidate Karl Skala seeks re-election to the Third Ward. It truly is unfortunate that his opposition is reduced to gutter-sniping attacks on him.

Without pay for being a member of the City Council, Skala treats representing our city as more than a full time job. He does his research and knows his facts. Developing expertise through National League of Cities conferences is an important part of that job. Skala is conscientious, experienced, intelligent and highly qualified. Above all, he is known for his integrity.

Accusing Skala of spending too much on dinner is a tactic of a candidate who knows his own qualifications are small potatoes in comparison. In short, his opponent's personal allegations against Skala's integrity are a clear sign of desperation.
