LETTER: Skala deserves your vote

Wednesday, March 31, 2010 | 9:34 a.m. CDT; updated 2:51 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, March 31, 2010

We are fortunate to have a councilperson who makes the extra effort to attend additional training such as out-of-state trips to the National League of Cities. The insights and ideas (Karl) Skala brings home inform and benefit the various city staff, commissions, and boards. Those insights and ideas help us move forward as a growing, progressive city, with a beautiful countryside.

Skala’s time on the Planning and Zoning Commission gives him critical experience and perspective in how to diplomatically balance the needs of business and development, provide for the needs of ordinary citizens and protect Columbia’s biggest jewel, our natural environment. Unbalanced growth will in short order make Columbia look like any other mid size Midwestern city, rather than the beautiful place we now take pride in. Karl Skala deserves your vote on April 6.
