JEFFERSON CITY — Sen. Kit Bond is back from a trip to Asia where he met with officials about energy, agriculture, education and defense issues.

The Missouri Republican said he discussed alternative energy solutions with officials in India — a country that, like Missouri, relies heavily on coal-fired power plants.

Bond said he also met with Indian officials about expanding their partnership with Missouri's biotechnology institutions and about their interest in purchasing Missouri-made military aircraft.

In Thailand, Bond said he stressed the need to open the country's market to American agriculture products.

Bond returned from the weeklong trip on Friday.
