Columbia College softball team sweeps AMC doubleheader

The Columbia College softball team dominated Missouri Baptist on Thursday defeating the Spartans in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader in St. Louis 3-0 and 4-2.

The Cougars, No. 25 in the latest NAIA poll at 26-13 and 10-4 in the AMC, had 17 hits in the sweep.

In the first game, Tori Gehlert had an RBI double and Valerie Teter hit a home run. Teter (19-5) got the one-hit shutout, fanning seven Spartans while giving up just one walk.

Chelsie Crain and Gehlert hit home runs in the second game, with Teter getting the win again, striking out 10 and 10 allowing five hits.

Columbia College plays No. 21 St. Xavier in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Friday in Chicago.
