Authorities begin criminal investigation of Missouri inmate's death

CAMERON — Law enforcement officials have begun a criminal investigation into the death of a 27-year-old inmate at the Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron.

The Missouri Department of Corrections said 27-year-old Pascual Herrera was found dead at the prison on Friday. After an autopsy was performed, authorities began a criminal investigation. No further details were immediately available.

Herrera was serving a six-year sentence for tampering with an airplane/motorboat in Camden County and weapons and drug charges from Cass County.
