JOPLIN — A southwest Missouri center for troubled boys has been sued by a woman who alleges that her 11-year-old was sexually abused at the treatment center.

The lawsuit filed this week alleges that an older boy molested and raped the 11-year-old at the Turnaround Ranch west of Joplin and that the center did not report the abuse to the state.

The lawsuit was filed in Jasper County Circuit against Freeman Health System, Ozark Center, Turnaround Ranch, two counselors and a case manager.

The Joplin Globe reports that the boy's mother says he was assaulted four times between September and November of last year.

Dwight Douglas, attorney for Freeman Health System, says the allegations have been fully investigated. He says the defendants all dispute the allegations.
