JEFFERSON CITY — The White House confirmed Friday that President Barack Obama will visit Macon on Wednesday as part of a two-day Midwestern swing.

The schedule for what's being called the "White House to Main Street Tour" was announced Friday and includes towns in Iowa, Missouri and Illinois.

The president has planned three stops on Tuesday in Iowa, beginning with a tour of a Siemens Energy plant in Fort Madison. He'll also visit Mount Pleasant before holding an afternoon town hall meeting at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa.

On Wednesday, the president is scheduled to travel to Macon and Quincy, Ill. The White House says details of those events will be announced later.

The Missourian earlier reported that Obama is expected to visit a Macon ethanol plant. Macon is home to POET Biorefining, which produces ethanol.
