COLUMBIA — The Columbia College softball team opens play in the American Midwest Conference tournament with doubleheader against Missouri Baptist set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Cougar Softball Field. Game time was moved up from 2 p.m. because rain is predicted for Friday afternoon.

Top-seeded Columbia College, ranked No. 26 in the NAIA, is 30-17 overall and finished the conference regular season with a 12-4 record, tying for first with Williams Baptist. The Cougars received the top seed after winning the run differential tiebreaker with the Eagles.

Missouri Baptist, the eighth seed, finished the season 29-22 overall and 6-10 in the AMC. The Cougars faced the Spartans in St. Louis on April 15, with the Cougars earning a sweep, 3-0 and 4-2.

Each round of this year’s AMC tournament will be a best-of-three series hosted by the highest seed.
