The Rock Bridge boys tennis team won the eight-team Tournament of Champions hosted by Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School on Saturday in St. Louis. It was the first time the Bruins won the meet since they starting competing in it almost 10 years ago.

The Rock Bridge doubles team of Blake Buchert and Jimmy Hunter were a big part of the victory, scoring the decisive points by winning the doubles title with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Pembroke Hill's Kevin Hornbeck and Chandler McCray.

Rock Bridge won the tournament with 52 points, Pembroke Hill was second with 50 and Rockhurst was third with 42.

The Bruins' Ford Zitch also played an important role, winning his singles semifinal 4-6, 6-1 (10-6) over MICDS's Charlie Curtis. Zitch lost, however, in the final, falling 6-1, 6-2 to Rockhurst's Teddy Fitzgibbons.
