City Council to interview seven for Planning and Zoning Commission

Thursday, May 13, 2010 | 5:39 p.m. CDT

Seven of the 11 people seeking five-year terms on the Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission will sit down for interviews with City Council.

Council members ranked the 11 applicants this week. Based on those votes, the council plans to interview Glenn Rice, Raman Puri, Rick Buford, Julia Ames, James Downey, James Holman and William Tillotson.

There are two seats available. Rice and Puri are seeking re-appointment. Buford made an unsuccessful bid for Fourth Ward councilman this spring. Ames is a realtor, and Downey owns Legacy Bookbindery. Holman is engineering manager for Coil Construction, and Tillotson is a senior adviser for the Naught-Naught Agency.

The council plans to conduct the interviews beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday in conference rooms 1A and 1B at City Hall.
