Second suspect arrested in connection with rape of 14-year-old girl

COLUMBIA — Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a sexual assault report filed March 31.

William Lee Palmer was arrested on suspicion of one count of forcible rape and one count of forcible sodomy, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

A 14-year-old girl told police she had been assaulted by two men while she was at the home of a family acquaintance during the overnight hours of March 28 to March 29, the news release stated.

Palmer was taken into custody May 16.

Skylar L. McClanahan was also arrested on April 7 on suspicion of one count of forcible rape and one count of forcible sodomy in connection with the incident.

As of Monday afternoon, both men were in custody in Boone County Jail on $500,000 bonds.
