LETTER: Animals are innocent, deserve our protection

There is one thing that this professor (Michael Jonathan Grinfeld, "Curb your government, curb your dog," May 17) fails to understand: That is, these animals he is so willing to shoot are innocent.

These dogs, cats, horses, monkeys or whatever are innocent. They did not choose to live here. They are victims of failed human decisions. So being innocent as they are, they deserve our protection. Not our wrath.

As for protecting animals over people: Other than children, people are not innocent. They have free will and choose the path of their lives, either directly or indirectly.

So I say help the innocent, not the ignorant. That would include misguided professors.
