The Rock Bridge girls soccer team defeated Rolla 4-0 on Tuesday in a Class 3 sectional in Jefferson City to advance to the state quarterfinals.
It is the first time Rock Bridge has gone this far in the postseason since 2000 when the Bruins reached the final four of the state tournament.
On Tuesday, the Bruins (13-12-2) jumped to a 3-0 first-half lead on goals from Anna Alioto, Caraline Trecha and Lexi Bumby.
"I can't ever remember that ever happening to us this year, but it was a good time for it to come out," Rock Bridge coach Marc VanDover said by phone.
Carmen Boessen assisted on Alioto's goal in the 14th minute, Bumby assisted on Trecha's score in the 20th minute and Adrian Kelly assisted on Bumby's goal in the 31st minute. Alioto scored the Bruins' final goal in the 60th minute on another Bumby assist.
Rock Bridge faces Nixa in the next round in a game set for 1 p.m. Saturday in Waynesville.
